History Of Paige Capos In 1988 musician Bryan Paige put his tool-and-die background to use. He constructed a guitar capo that would suit his needs: ultra-thin with quick and easy movement, could be stored on the instrument, and most of all, one that didn't pull the strings out of tune. From a small workshop on his farm in southern Michigan, what began as a product for his own personal use quickly extended to an intimate network of local musicians and close friends. The Paige Capo was introduced to the market in 1989 and was mostly associated with the bluegrass genre. Within the next several years, it quickly garnered the attention of a larger, diverse community of musicians. Paige's own personal quest for better tuning evolved into the company of Paige Musical Products. Grassroots success and a tremendous amount of direct store orders soon prompted national distribution, including the addition of entire Paige line into Fender's wholesale catalog. Regarded for its effective, streamlined innovation, The Paige Capo received the Acoustic Guitar Players' Choice award in 2004. By 2007, a complete line of Paige products were available and thriving on the international market. Competitive reviews and acclaim graced their variety of assorted models that now included two banjo/ mandolin alternatives, one of which would capo past the fourth fret, a wide neck/ low profile six string, and the highly requested twelve-string capo. Paige's newest product, the electric model capo, was unveiled at the 2008 NAMM convention in Nashville, TN. Still operating in the rural community of Jonesville, Michigan, the family-owned company continues to produce quality, American-made products that remain in tune with a musician's needs. |
