We generally have about 30 to 40 amps in stock, with the majority being TUBE or VALVE Amps, which is where the fun starts! There was a time when the whole world of electronics design and manufacture, was turning to a solid state, transistorised future, ending the use of the fabulous Electron Tube that had driven pretty much everything up until then. Well, they tried to convince us that Transistors were the way to go, but most guitar players have pretty good ears and could tell that these new fangled "upgraded" amps were nowhere near as good sounding as the good old Tube amps they had been playing through. Hence, almost single-handed, the guitar industry still has a place Tube Amps!
I enjoy telling people that Leo fender would have been a genius even if he had never produced a guitar. His amp manufacture started with a humble beginning in 1946 in Fullerton, California and throughout the 50's became a huge success, with their "Tweed" era amps, bigger in the 60's, with the Blond and Brown Tolex versions, which eventually culminates with his "magnum opus" The "Blackface Amps" famously introduced in the 1964 catalogue. Reverb was finally offered in this new range and along with a power upgrade, a facelift and some brand new models, they were a huge success. Gibson, Vox, Marshall, Ampeg, Magnatone, Gretsch, Valco, Supro and many others were competing in this marketplace and had some great amps as well. We specialise in finding original, clean examples that have been looked after...Long live tube amps!
