2006 C.F Martin & Co, OM28 Marquis "Madagascar" #1242160 - Sold

Martin

$0.00

About 12 years ago, Martin started offering special run guitars with an interesting alternative to Brazilian Rosewood, which, Basically they hadn't used in any quantity since 1969, when it became the subject of International Laws related to its Importation, making it "Braz" a non viable proposition for future use. This has become a very big deal these days and there have been many laws passed since to protect this special species. The alternative that Martin chose as it's "replacement" is "Madagascar Rosewood", from the Island of Madagascar, East of the South African Continent in the Indian Ocean. It is considered to be  a very similar Tonewood, some say that it is basically the same "DNA", but whatever is factual among all of that, one thing is for sure, the Tonal characteristics are very obvious.

This limited edition OM28, based on a late 1930's guitar, with Forward shifted X Brace, Scalloped Bracing, Herringbone Trim, faux Celluloid Pickguard, Nickel plated Waverly "Butterbean" Tuners, Fossilised Walrus Ivory Nut and Saddle and Diamond Inlays. Timber Selection is of course, Madagascar rosewood Back, Sides and Headstock Overlay,. Adirondack "Red" Spruce Top, with nice even straight Grain, without too much runout. Ebont Fretboard and Bridge.

These guitars are headed for significant interest from a collectability point of view, they are beautifully built guitars, with equally beautiful Timber selection. Surely part of a second "Golden Era" from this significant and iconic maker. Come and pick this one, it is all you might suspect it to be.
