1966 is the year that arguably the most famous electric guitar of all time, the Fender Stratocaster, then 12 years old, was slated to be dropped from Fender's catalogue. Sales had declined to an extent that they felt it had run it's race basically. Then, just in the nick of time, along comes a fellow called Jimi Hendrix. And things changed overnight. He played a right handed version "upside down"as a "Lefty" and the rest is history! It has become the biggest selling Electric Guitar of all time. Hence, these 1966 and 1967 Guitars are quite rare. This one is in fine, factory original condition, it has a really nice neck shape and plenty of life in the frets. Sounds, plays and looks great as you can see by the pics. It has the original Aussie Stamford case, indicating that it has lived its life here in Australia. A really good example of a hard to find Fender Stratocaster
