60 years later, after producing the most iconic and valuable Gibson Les Paul of all time in 1959, they “went back to the well” and had their Custom Shop throw everything they had, at a project to reproduce those instruments and this is one of those most beautiful guitars. I think our pics show you just how well their builders performed. They’ve made various versions of these so called R9’s along the way and they’ve become highly sought after and valuable. Personally I’ve often thought that they’ve not quite “nailed” the neck shape and tone at times, but they have got it spot on with these 60th Anniversary versions. I’ve had a couple of friends who know their stuff agree with this and everyone who’s played this one has loved it.
