Rory Gallagher...A hard Irishman and legendary Hard Rock and Blues Guitar Player! Prominent for most of the Seventies and Eighties until his untimely death in 1995 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rory_Gallagher . He had a particular and favourite early 60's Fender Sunburst Stratocaster for pretty much all of his career, that became somewhat less Sunburst over time! It was "rode hard" by Rory, over thousands of gigs for nearly 30 years and shows all of the scars! Sometime after he passed away, the Fender Custom Shop struck an agreement with Rory's family, to loan the guitar, take every little measurement and detail, with a view to "recreating" this classic Strat. I don't know how many they produced, but you don't see many out there at all! This of course is one of them and I think that they really nailed these ones. I of course have never had a chance to play the original, but this is just a great Strat in its own right, great neck shape, tone is as good as a Strat can be and suits that Rock/Blues style that it comes from.
Interestingly Joe Bonamassa was given permission by the family to use the original Rory guitar for some gigs, nice to know it was out there again. So, you may not get permission from them, but you have mine to come in and try this one!
