We call this one "Irene", after the lady who owned, recorded and performed her music on this nice old Martin guitar, here in Adelaide for most of her long career. She told me that it was bought new on her behalf by a friend who travelled to Canada back in 1965 and it has been here in Adelaide ever since. She supported Bob Dylan on a tour here in 1966, when it seems he arrived with a "broken" guitar, meaning he needed to borrow one for the show. What is known, is that he used a guitar that he loaned from her and that it was a Martin. I have had people tell me that this is the one. Interesting of course, but the guitar itself is the interesting story, 50 years old, with a nice straight grained Brazilian Rosewood back, sides and headstock overlay, exactly as specified for use by the old school Martin foremen. Tight, close grained Sitka Spruce top, with a beautiful black Ebony fretboard. All assembled with hot hide glue. Along with the genuine celluloid pickguard, all "wrapped" in the original nitro cellulose lacquer, it looks and plays a treat! Sounds even better! Crack-free, low action and no need for anything other than a new home. this is a beautiful guitar!
